"the finest tea room in England"
Country Life Magazine
"your eyes are overwhelmed by the sight of shelf upon shelf of mouthwatering chocolates, red raspberry gateaux, walnut cakes and meringues....which fill the display cases of the busy tea shop"
The Great Tea Rooms of Britain
"As you enter, you can’t stop coveting the array of beautiful cakes and confectionery to choose from: gateaux, meringues, eclairs like you’ve never seen such things."
Salisbury Scrutineer
“Sample hearty breakfasts, indulgent afternoon teas and homemade lunches at The Polly Tearooms – a quintessentially traditional English cafe. Established in 1932, The Polly Tearooms is a name that West Country residents know as synonymous with quality, relaxation and exceptional food”
Best of Cirencester
“In addition to wonderful afternoon teas with homemade cakes, biscuits and breads, this also offers an extensive breakfast and lunch menu with the not very often found kedgeree amongst the former, and appetising dishes such as Polly's homemade fishcake on a leek and potato cream amongst the latter. There's a good selection of teas, coffees, soft drinks, beers and wine, a special children's menu, and a wide choice of speciality ice creams. And in the Polly Shop you'll find an enticing range of Polly's own handmade chocolates, fudge, marzipan fruits, homemade jams and marmalade, and honey from Polly's own hives. See separate entry for Polly Tea Rooms in Salisbury.”

Near college quads of academe on kennet banks I gently dream of endless coffee - freshly brewed Polly Tearooms - cups renewed.
Snatching briefly wistful hour creamy cakes and scones devour having walked the lengthy street fellow scholars warmly greet.
I hear a chuckle from Sir John time, they say, now marches on through slyvan groves to Savernake by Wiltshire bus - all crimson lake.
I will explore the country lanes and churches with their weathervane's catching sounds of evensong borne on the wind - October strong.

The Polly in Winter
The snow sprinkles over the flat roof
and like icing through a seive flying gently
on some hot mince pies
and the soft wind whispers softly
winter at the polly
winter at the polly
nothing more nothing less
lovely saches on a dress
winter at the polly

Snow men act like the little figures on the iced cake
in the show window
and the soft wind whispers softly
winter at the polly
winter at the polly
nothing more nothing less
lovely saches on a dress
winter at the polly

The snow swirls round in the wind like the cake
mixture being mixed round in a bowl
and the soft wind whispers softly
winter at the polly
winter at the polly
nothing more nothing less
lovely saches on a dress
winter at the polly

The steam from the mince pies rises to kiss the sky
like the frosty steam from the hard ground
and the soft wind whispers softly
winter at the polly
winter at the polly
nothing more nothing less
lovely saches on a dress
winter at the polly
